UX

While i reviewed Toms.com, i found that thy had many great features, as well as overused ones. They did a fabulous job with contrasting colors and creating hierarchies, but at the same time, it was somewhat too much for the eye and a little excessive. As you can see by this image,
They create a color scheme at the top part of the page. The banner overall shows the main idea, logo, links, and login. All the necessary things in a website. And as you go down, there are a very good use of graphics and photos in the hierarchy. They are evenly spaced, not completely centered, and attract the eye to what is supposed to be attractive. Overall, this website creates a pleasing visual effect and leaves you with a feeling of accomplishment.

1. It doesn't matter how may times i have to click, as long as each click is a mindless, unambiguous choice.
2. because deep lets you find things easier and understand where youre going rather than having to look all over a page and not find anything at all
3. how hard the click is
4. unnecessary
5. get rid of half the words on each page, then get rid of half of whats left.
6. because thy never get read anyways and it just wasting space.

8. introductory text thats supposed to welcome us to a page
9. blah blah blah blah blah
10. scan through and find an alternative
11. no one is going to read them
12. 103, 41
13. people wont use your website if they cant understand it

Don't make me think 2

1. We expect people to look at all of our text and figure out how to do it from there but they really just look for something that stands out to them.
2. We don't read pages. we scan them.
3. In a hurry, don't need to read everything, already good at it.
4. you would make things bold and exaggerate main points or important phrases.
5. We don't make optimal choices. We satisfice.
6. We choose the first reasonable option.
7. firefighters, pilots, chess masters, and nuclear power plant operators.
8. usually in a hurry, not a penalty for guessing wrong, guessing is more fun.
9. We don't figure out how things work. We muddle through.
10. People who type out the entire url
11. its not important to us, if we find something that works, we stick to it.
12. they'll have a better chance of figuring things out, they'll notice all that you have to offer, they'll feel smarter, more in control
13. If your audience is going to act like you're designing billboards, then design great billboards.

Don't make me think

1. nothing important should ever be more than two clicks away
2. If something is important, it should be easy or access.
3. question mark
4. unfamiliar names, un-obvious links, search bars, unknown starting point
5. one without boxes, no curser, flat
6. it distracts us from the task at hand, leading us to just give up. people don't enjoy puzzling over how to do things.
7. Where am i? Where should i begin? Where did they put (blank)? What is important on this page? Why did they call it that?
8. understanding the basic principle of eliminating question marks.
9. the competition is always one click away
10. yes, because there a millions of options on the web and plenty of good designers that are more dedicated than you to eliminate questions
11. Although many people tend to blame themselves and not the site, the audience would have a much more positive remembrance of the site and maybe even recommend it to a friend if they had a good experience and enjoyed it.

-- What is a content management system (CMS)? a computer application that allows publishing, editing and modifying content, organizing, and deleting
-- What are several well-known brands that use Wordpress as a content management system for their site? (include links and screen captures with captions for at least 2 of them)

-- What are the other 2 popular CMSs, besides Wordpress? (clue attached below)-- Compare and contrast them - what are their respective strengths? What criteria would someone consider when choosing one of the three? (Include links to sites that you get your information from.)

Kerning

In typography, kerning is when you adjust the space between characters in proportional font, usually to receive a visually pleasing result. In a well kerned font, the two dimensional blank spaces between each pair of characters all have a visually similar area. In this game, we were asked to move the letters around blindly, trying to put them in the correctly "kerned" spot. And if we got them in the correct area, it would give us 100%.

Mary Poppins

This is the poster i made from the 1960's. It represents me because when i was a child, i always watched this movie. It would make me smile and want to be able to fly away, just like her. I wanted to be able to sing like her, and be as sweet as her. It was one of my favorite movies and whenever i watched it, a smile would appear on my face. This movie brings back such good memories for me and the poster represents that. It shows her flying away from the big city she was from, and carrying a part of it with her. Because Mary Poppins was the type of Lady to not only leave marks on others, but bring a little of each place with her wherever she went. A lot of Saul Bass' posters were red and black with little of other colors. His posters were very cartoonish and harsh almost, creating a suspenseful scene. Mine on the other hand, although it still has that cartoonish feel, is realistic and gives depth with cool colors that sooth your mind rather than worry it.

I liked this website because i believe it really used its graphics well and i thought the bowling pins columns were a nice touch. They really caught my eye, and before even reading anything, i knew what the website was for. Its altogether very simple, unique, and fun. I enjoyed looking at it and seeing what it was about. http://www.onwravens.net/bowling/
